Are you irritated by some things being allowed by the administration at your child’s school? Uneasy about some choices made by local government officials that make your job as an at-home parent more difficult (like tax increases, zoning decisions and restrictions on home-based businesses)?

Speaking up at city council or school board meetings can be intimidating. But fear not; with the right idea and presentation, you can fight City Hall - and win.

We asked Missouri state and local activist Lynette Holt to share some tips on making the most of your time at the...

Moments for Mom Moments for Mom
November 2004

I have had some amazing friendship moments recently. One of my closest friends just had a baby and I was so excited to see her and her third daughter for the first time that I left in the middle of my solitude retreat to go visit her at the hospital.

Another friend helped me navigate a sticky situation where I was on the verge of choosing the sinful low road --- she gave me some great advice, challenged me and prayed for me --- she was Christ to me and that helped me to be a bit more like Him myself in that moment.

Another friend and I got away overnight…I've known her the longest…just about 18 years. So we have a handful of memories from when we were teenagers that send us into hysterics…the...

Christmas cookie Recipe

Recipe Exchange Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies
Here is a favorite recipe from my great grandma Drake:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup sugar
1 cup cooking oil
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
½ teaspoon salt
4 cups flour

In a large mixing bowl, cream sugars, oil and shortening. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Slowly add sifted dry ingredients. Chill dough for at least 2 hours or overnight. Roll into balls and place on un-greased cookie sheets. Take a glass with a fancy bottom design and dip in dough and then in colored sugar. Press cookie down. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. These cookies melt in your mouth. Enjoy!

  Hints from Mom
When giving your child a present
Posted by: [dnachase] on 09-08-2004 @ 08:11 PM

Bible Study For Christmas, birthdays and other occasions where we give our own kids presents, we always open the package the night before and remove all the ties and tape and other annoyances and then replace the toy in the box. It removes those hazards from little one's mouths, allows them to play with it sooner, and lets us read directions (and play with it too!) the night before so we know how to guide them. It really does make a difference!

Bible Study - Life in Heaven?

Bible Study Bible Study - Life in Heaven

What do you think life in Heaven will be like?

Read the scriptures below to see what the Bible has to say. Post your comments and let's talk about what you think it will be like.

A Life of Fellowship with God

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face (I Cor. 13:12)
Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go there to prepare a place for you. I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also (John 14:1-3).
Notes: We can look forward to eternal life because Jesus has promised it to all who believe in...

Caleb Crosses The Country: A Camel's Tale (God Can Use Me Series)

ChristianMom - Book Reviews Caleb Crosses The Country: A Camel's Tale (God Can Use Me Series)

Caleb was a camel with a very big problem. He was created to cross wide, hot deserts. But Caleb was afraid to leave his stable. That is, until God chose him to go on a long journey with the Wise Men as they followed a special star to see an important Baby.

Perfect for kids ages 5 and up, this humorous retelling of the Christmas story will teach kids that God has a unique plan for everyone. They will love the cartoon-like illustrations and bright colors as they see Caleb act out his part in God's master plan.
